PhD student, crap libertine, penniless mod, disillusioned activist, refugee. Definite bum

Welcome to my blog.

Inspired by my wonderful girlfriend, the ace writer Zoe Lambert, to get some of my ramblings onto paper/screen, and with the sole ambition to be a bit more creative, I've come up with this thing here on which to witter.

In September 2015 I emigrated to Berlin to escape a generation of Tory rule in England, and to chance my arm in one of my favourite cities in the world. But love conquered all and I returned to Brexit Island to be with my girl. As of October 2019 I am studying a PhD in environmental peacebuilding and resource conservation at Lancaster University and the University of Manchester.

This blog is a rambling collection of posts about my PhD, some old tales about Berlin, a bit of music, most likely some politics, and other half-arsed odds and ends thrown in.

So have a wander around. You never know what you might learn.

If you want to contact me for any reason, my email address is matt.g.hanley(at)gmail.com.
